| Geoinformation
(GI) technologies (geodata and GIS, geoinformation services, geoinformatics)
are going through a phase of radical change. Due to technical developments
and scientific progress new possibilities arise for a more efficient
management of information in the domain of traffic and logistics.
In the new millennium national and international traffic and logistics
networks require interoperable services that support decision processes
at every instant and in every place.
In this course of events the need for geoinformation is growing.
An automated production and digital provision of formerly analog
information does not suffice anymore. The production of new GI products
for politics, administration, companies as well as citizens is of
growing importance.
What are the consequences for economy, administration and science?
Which research questions have to be addressed? What kind of products
and services will be demanded? The GI-days 2002 in Muenster represent
an ideal possibility to discuss and answer these questions.
The GI-days in Muenster represent a forum for technology transfer
among decision makers, developers, users and scientists.
